Sword of St. Maurice

Saint Maurice of the all Christian Theban Legion is seen as the patron Saint of armies, soldiers, the Swiss Guard, arms makers, sword smiths, and almost anyone who carries a weapon. Housed in the Weltliche Schatzkammer (Imperial Treasury), in Vienna, this famous sword attributed to him was used in the coronation of the Holy Roman Emperors from Otto IV in 1198 to as late as Emperor Karl I in 1916. The design shows it to be of a style commonly used in the 11th century. The blade is hand forged of tough, high carbon steel and tempered with full tang. The solid brass parts include the proper engravings done by hand which sets this sword apart from others of the period. Each part is then hand finished for an aged appearance. The grip is wood which is then wound with silver wire with brass knot work rings at each end. Includes beautiful leather scabbard and belt set. A stunning and historically significant sword.
